Pupils are given a solid grounding in all the core subjects in Years 3,4,5 and 6. We offer an enhanced National Curriculum with great importance placed on numeracy and literacy skills. Classes are small with a maximum size of 16. Every child has a Form Teacher who monitors academic progress. We operate a ladder system whereby children work at their own level. This means that some pupils may work with the class above or the class below, depending on their individual needs, In addition teachers keep an eye on social and personal development.
Our aim is to make the school interesting, fun and relevant to pupils' lives. Sport, Creative and Performing Arts, French or Spanish are taught throughout, and Science classes make use of the Senior School laboratories. All the children continue with their IT classes and use both networks and PC's within the school.
Those pupils needing specialist support are able to have additional one to one tuition from the Learning Support Department.
By discovering children's talents and building their confidence we prepare them for the academic opportunities and challenges they will face in the Senior school.
School starts at 8.30am but pupils may arrive for breakfast at 7.45am or after breakfast at 8.00am if parents need to drop early. School ends at 4.00pm.
