Boarding at Hurst Lodge

Hurst Lodge has a small boarding house with a warm, welcoming and secure atmosphere. Girls may board from age 7 upwards and may be weekly or flexi boarders. Because the boarding house is small, the girls have friends of all ages and we run like a large family. Students and staff sit down to breakfast and supper together and this is a good time to foster community spirit. We have facilities for 20 boarders; most rooms have beds for between 2 and 4 girls. Girls may return between 6.30pm and 8pm on Sunday evening or in time for school on Monday morning.  Our youngest boarder is 6½, our eldest 19.

The Senior Housemistress is in overall charge with older girls encouraged to adopt responsibility by taking an active interest in the welfare of younger girls.  Uniform is only worn during the week with students wearing home clothes in the evenings. 

Girls whose parents are based overseas must have a guardian in this country to whom they go at weekends. The school can arrange transport to and from the airport. London Heathrow is 20 minutes away with London Stanstead and Gatwick 45 minutes away.  The school car delivers girls to Ascot station at 4.10 pm every Friday for those returning to London.  There is also a good National Coach link to Central London from this station.

Boarders are expected to work within Hurst Lodge School's Code of Conduct and be mindful of its ethos and policies, the Boarding House aims to provide a caring, well-ordered, family environment -

• which maximises the potential of each individual.

The Boarding House allows time for individual needs and allows each girl personal space and quiet if desired..

Flexi Boarding is available, 24hrs notice is required unless there is an emergency.
