Mushroom Expedition

"Open Spaces Open Minds"

Year 2 joined Miss Smit on a mushroom spotting expedition.   Heavy rain over the last two months has led to a bumper crop of fungi in woodland areas of the county.   A good number of different species were found and photographed.  The level of excitement was amazing each time a new mushroom was discovered in the wood or on the school field.  Conkers and different coloured leaves also played their part in making this a most enjoyable adventure for the children.  We have sent off these photographs to a number of experts in order that the different varieties may be named.
