Hurst Lodge School

Polytunnel

We have made some progress in our quest to construct a rather large polytunnel. We are really looking forward to growing salad food, fruit and vegetables, herbs and some exotics plants.  We will also learn about soil testing.

Hurst Lodge already has a gardening club who will play a large part in both the development and the running of this project.  Whatever consumables we produce will be eaten by the pupils.

We have received our box from Rocket Gardens which contains our bare-root vegetable plants to start our growing experiments in the polytunnel.  These have been potted up into plug containers which are nestling by the sports shed and closely resemble a bring and buy sale.  Once our automated irrigation system has gone into the polytunnel these will be moved.  Rocket Garden have provided several cards outlining the differing boxes they have available for families and keen gardeners.  I believe they are offering a discount to parents.  The cards are in the school office and you are more than welcome to collect one if you are interested.
