ISA Drama Competition
The Southern section of the Independent Schools Association National Drama Competition was recently held at Hurst Lodge School, Ascot. The Northern Section was performed at the Hammond school in Chester. There were 300 performers nationally with ages ranging from 4 – 19. The productions varied from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ to ‘Blood Wedding’, nicely interspersed with several musicals, some innovative improvised work and several adaptions of old favourites. Both Northern and Southern sections have the same adjudicator and are then judged as one.

Hurst Lodge achieved a fantastic set of results nationally:
Year 8 and their production of ‘The Dog and His Reflection’ were the winners of ‘The Hydesville Trophy for the best Musical’.
Kara Ellis in Year 8 won the ‘Best Performer in a Musical’.
Year 9’s production of ‘Amy’s Incredible Illucinations’ came third in the Middle School section of the National competition.
Year 13’s producation of ‘Blood Wedding’ won the ‘Best Senior Production’ and was awarded the Clewborough House Cup.
Kelly Wright-Warhurst in Year 13 won the ‘Best Senior Actress’ award.
The overall winner of the whole competition was Year 13’s production of ‘Blood Wedding’.
Hurst Lodge has a strong tradition in the Performing and Creative Arts and this National success is well deserved following all of the hard work and enthusiasm the students displayed.
