The Music Department at Hurst Lodge is a vibrant, engaging and creative environment where we seek to broaden and deepen our students’ knowledge and experience of music making.
There is a strong tradition of singing here, with choirs for children of all ages and abilities. Instrumental lessons are offered on a range of musical instruments, and there are many opportunities for pop and musical theatre singing in our annual drama and dance productions, music concerts and our ‘Party In The Park’ open air event in the summer term.
Students benefit from specialist music teachers and equipment from a very early age. Music is also offered at GCSE and A Level, as well as part of the GCSE & BTEC in Performing Arts. Our recording studio is always very busy with children writing and recording their own songs, and learning to use composing and notation software on our Apple Mac computers.
The Music Department plays an important part in many school events such as Harvest and Christmas Celebrations as well as in many assemblies. Students get the opportunity to perform at various community events and venues.
